CONFERENCES

The Indian Formation Research Society organises an annual conference in the last week of November at the University of Delhi, India. The theme is chosen 18 months in advance by the steering committee, on a topic that is of seminal importance for a range of people's struggles.

The conference is a 3-day event, with 30 minutes for each individual paper presentation, followed by an open microphone discussion at the end of each session. All papers are required to be based upon empirical research, to ensure a meaningful discussion can be held. On average some 40 research papers are accepted each year by the conference organisers for presentation, from a variety of different disciplinary, theoretical and regional contexts. The gathering represents a spectrum of pro-people perspectives, and in years past has attracted a considerable degree of interest from both university-based research scholars and full-time social activists alike.
